The Round Table is a social club for men under 45. Mostly it's about letting off steam every other week. We meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursday, if there is a 5th it is a bonus night out. Our meetings might be just getting together for a drink or a meal, or karting, golf, bowling, paint balling, archery, skiing, cycling, tractor racing and more! If the women are feeling left out, they have their own version, Ladies Circle, where they can do exactly the same if they want... We also have some events which the ladies are welcome to attend, from posh frock balls to less formal parties.
Thornton Cleveleys was the 161st Round Table to form in the UK, hence RT161. We are part of Round Table Area 34, Ribble and Lune. There are inter table events within Area 34 throughout the year, sporting and social. Also, the Round Table is an international organisation and we have an annual get together with our colleagues from RT161 in France (Montluçon) and Germany (Esslingen).
It's mostly about having fun, but we do perform a community service role, raising money for charity. Some of you may have seen Santa's Sleigh in the evenings before Christmas - we raised over £1200 which we split equally between Brian House children's hospice and Alder Hey children's hospital. We have supported other charities including the Outward Bound Trust, Epilepsy Action, St. John's Ambulance, Trinity House and Donna's Dream House. We prefer our donations to go to local causes; if you would like us to consider your charity, please contact us, but be aware that funds are limited and we may decline your request.
If you would like to join Thornton Cleveleys Round Table we would be pleased to hear from you.
